Teaching and Learning Research
We are constantly looking at different methods of teaching and learning at St Clare’s that we think will enhance the learning opportunities for our students. Over the break we we upgraded a number of classrooms but with one we tried something a little different.
The room has movable ‘writable desks’ which allow students to share and develop ideas by writing directly on the surface of the tables. This has proven successful in the Mezzanine space in the Library and now we are incorporating these tables across the College in a number of spaces.
We also had three monitors connected to Apple TV’s installed around the room. The idea behind this is that students can share the screens from the Macs directly to the monitor allowing for greater collaboration. Often you find a number of students crowded around a small laptop screen whenever group work is occurring. Having this facility should ensure movement around the room is smoother.
We also took the opportunity to renew the data projector and whiteboard. The College is undergoing tremendous redevelopment to ensure the students have the best possible learning environments we can provide.
