Debating Update

St Clare’s on 5 and 12 May hosted Rounds 2 and 3 of the CSDA 2017 Debating Competition. On Friday 5 May, both Marcellin College Randwick and Mercy College Chatswood debated against our A and B teams. It was a very lively night with a topic of ‘Media’ but, unfortunately, we did not have any wins.

The following week on Friday 12 May, our visitors joined us from St Ursula’s Kingsgrove. Congratulations to St Clare’s teams 7A, 9A and 9B for your wins on the night. With a topic of ‘Leadership’, these girls showed that they certainly lead in debating.

Thank you to every student who has helped out each round. A hearty thank you to our adjudicators Ms Mark, Ms McNally, Ms Leong, Mrs Gray-Weale, Georgia Callinan and Mikaela Farrugia. Thank you to our coaches Georgia, Gabi Miller, Ruby Lynch and Paris Dillon-Baker. I would like to thank those staff who have helped to set up our rooms for these rounds. They are: Mrs Farrugia, Ms Murphy, Mrs Oliveira, Mrs Rivers, Mr Delley and Ms Sonego. Thank you to Mrs Armstrong too. Lastly, my thanks goes to Mrs McGahan and Mrs McDiarmid for their ongoing support of our debating program.

Please come along on Friday 26 May when St Clare’s will host Marist Eastwood for Round 5.
