Poor Clare Sisters Farewell
Last Friday the College community gathered to farewell the Poor Clare Sisters. While the Sisters are still a couple of months away from moving to their new home at Richmond it was a chance for us to formally thank the Sisters for all they have done for our College and the Waverley community in general. Their presence around the College will be greatly missed.
The farewells commenced with an assembly in the College Hall where students from each House spoke about what the Sisters mean to them and how the identity of each House had been formed by the Sisters.
Sister Louise then responded on behalf of the Sisters gathered, reflecting on her time at St Clare’s and the journey of the Sisters as a community. She spoke about her hopes for their new home at Richmond and the importance of maintaining the strong connections the Sisters have with the College.
At the end of the assembly it was a chance for a lovely presentation before moving off to mass at Mary Immaculate with Fr Bernie.
Following the farewells from the College the Sisters and many ex-staff and students gathered in the College Chapel for a liturgy. This was followed by dinner in the College Hall where many wonderful memories were shared over a spectacular meal prepared by our fantastic Hospitality team.
