UNSW Sunsprint Challenge Day 2

Day 2 of Sunsprint presented our teams with a whole new set of challenges as strong winds disrupted the planned schedule of events. No gazebos meant no relief from the sunshine while cars and equipment were constantly being blown off tables. A very frustrating day for all.

The wind impacted heavily on racing with cars being buffeted while moving around the track, often coming off and colliding with opposing cars. The Mini Sprint event had to be transferred to the 100 metre track which meant less racing time for all competitors.

Our cars were very competitive on Day 1 and we were hoping that today would bring some success in the knockout rounds. Unfortunately most teams were knocked out in the first round with only our Year 7 rookies progressing further.

The Year 7 team consisting of Natasha, Ava and Olivia can be very proud of their efforts in their first attempt at the Challenge. To finish in the Top 16 is an awesome achievement and the girls will be a much stronger team in 2020.

All teams can be proud of their efforts over the two days. Every team member represented the College magnificently and we could not be more proud of each one of them. A big thanks also to all the parents who came out to support us over the two days. Their presence was greatly appreciated.
