Remembrance Day Visit to Lycee Condorcet
Three members of our Year 11 Fromelles Research Team, Immi Barham, Lily Whitaker and Emily Cropp visited Lycee Condorcet (French International School) in Maroubra last week to be part of their Remembrance Day ceremony. The students had been invited to share their journey of discovery as part of their research into the Battle of Fromelles.
We were joined by the Year 9 students from Lycee Condorcet as well as a number of distinguished guests including, the French Consul-General Mme Anne Boillon, Patrick Lindsay, Matt McLachlan from McLachlan Battlefield Tours, the Lycee Condorcet Principal Sebastian Mathey, the Hauts de France representative Dana Levy and our College Principal, Mrs Antoinette McGahan.
Immi spoke about how the students became involved in the project back in 2018 as part of their Year 9 History studies and how the project developed under the guidance of Patrick Lindsay and Lambis Englezos. Emily presented her video profile of Alexander Clingan and spoke about the emotional connection she had developed with Alexander and his family during the project. Finally, Lily provided an overview of the documentary we are making on the Battle of Fromelles and how much work had gone into bringing the project to life.
This was a wonderful opportunity for the students not only to share their project but also to help build a relationship with Lycee Condorcet. Further strengthening the bond we have with the French community.
