On Sunday 5th March almost 100 ex-students gathered to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at St Clare’s College. An 11am mass was followed by a guided tour of interesting and historical artifacts in the Convent, lead by Sr Louise Hume osc. On Friday we ran a small test of the Google Cardboard devices. We used our Year 10 students to explore how effectively the Google Expedition app can be used in the classroom. The main goal of the test was to ensure students could connect their phones to the College network and then connect to the teacher’s Expedition network. Due to the inclement weather our Ash Wednesday Mass had to be transferred to the College Hall. Given the decision was made at 9:15am it was quite remarkable that our staff and students were able to come together to create such a beautiful experience. Fr Bernie again presided over the mass and in a very short time has made a great spiritual connection with our community. A very big thank you also to our REC Mrs Sue Farrugia, the Music staff, the College orchestra and choir.
The Parents and Friends Association hosted a Welcome Evening for all new members of St Clare’s family on Friday night. The evening is an opportunity for parents to meet staff and make connections with other families new to the College. The evening was catered for by our Hospitality staff and students. They worked tirelessly throughout the day and into the evening to ensure everyone was well looked after, with food and drink in plentiful supply.
