Our Year 7 students spent the day at Hyde Park Barracks exploring what life was like back in the days of the early settlement. A far cry from the exciting and vibrant city we live in today.
Our Year 9 and 11 Design and Technology students spent today at the Reverse Garbage Centre at Marrickville. This was a real example of authentic learning through a hands-on sustainability workshop. The students were required to take pre-existing items and upcycle them for a new and improved purpose.
We are continually looking at emerging technologies to see what impact they may have in our classrooms. The recent purchase of a DELL Mixed Reality headset has us very excited about the possibilities for our TAS and Art Departments. During the recent Open Day we used Google’s Tilt Brush application to demonstrate the potential of mixed reality as a learning tool. Last year we made an effort to get our Year 11 students out of the College for one period per cycle where they could get away from the pressures of school and enjoy each other’s company while participating in some relaxed sporting activities. The girls responded well to this initiative and we have continued this with our current Year 11 cohort.
